There are a lot of factors of stress that our children are open to; ranging from children competition to daily homework, over-scheduling and game activities after school. These kids need relaxing activities such as yoga to help relax their nerves just like adults.
Flexibility, total self-control, coordination and better body awareness are all benefits of yoga for kids. In addition to helping them in the classroom, these exercises also help them in their everyday activities.
Hyperactive children can gain calm and even the attention deficit children can be brightened up if they practice yoga. Stimuli to sensory motor and movement that will strike a balance in the flow of their inner souls are what children are looking for. By practicing yoga, these children would positively direct these impulses.
The warrior pose and tree pose are the main kids-friendly yoga poses that have shown to perfectly help children. Children are able to gain confidence, balance and calm when they practice these two poses.
Always remember that if you really want these kids to practice yoga, then you have to make them think of the meaning of the real posture in addition to carrying out the appropriate poses.
Telling of stories is a nice way to make kids practice yoga.
You should make them see themselves as the postures – confident and strong and make them imagine themselves to be the symbol of their poses.
When you help your kids practice yoga as their partner, there will be development of trust between you guys. It also helps them facilitate close bonding and build up their team skills.
You can find some kids having difficulty in focusing on exercises and closing their eyes during relaxation. Visualization is one factor that can help a child relax. So create images in their mind of something they really like. Make them see themselves as those images they have created in their mind.
Advise them for deep belly breathing and play relaxing music to calm their nerves.
Make them create different imaginations; seeing themselves playing their most loved sport, doing things they love most on the beach, their best spot around the house or seeing themselves floating in space.
In some cases, for relaxation, it is preferable to allow the boys think of their most loved girlfriend. Don’t forget that it doesn’t always work because the guys feel shy and intolerable sometimes when discussing issues like this. If you feel this technique is too complex, then do only the visualization.
Encourage the kids to share their personal experiences at the end of the relaxation exercises. Also, they should give an account of their experience in their imaginary surroundings to the group. Let them state the places they imagined themselves in.
Telling of stories
Telling of stories – having a theme that is calming – is another way to make them practice yoga.
You should know that when it comes to imaginations, children are the best. They feel calm when it gets to the aspect of imagination. Let the kids see or imagine themselves on a green pasture feeling the air and the high grasses during the yoga.
Let them see themselves in a beautiful garden as butterflies; don’t forget the main focus is to synchronize them with nature and have a sense of peace.
Kid-friendly yoga should be something children should learn about frequently and at different locations. It is extremely important that what it really means to have a united mind, body and spirit be taught to these kids.
Our children will be privileged an enormous wealth of knowledge when they practice yoga effectively and appropriately.
